Congratulations to Cascade High School! They were named the winners in State Farm’s Celebrate My Drive national contest on Tuesday. The contest challenged teens and community members to sign online safe-driving pledges this fall, with each pledges counting as a vote for a school of their choice. Over three-thousand schools nationwide participated in the contest in either the small school category or large school category. Cascade was the grand prize winner of all small schools, winning a $100,000 grant and a private concert from The Band Perry. Students and staff at Cascade High School were thrilled to find out during an assembly that they were the top winners. The high school is required to use 10-percent of the grant on a teen driver safety program. The school plans to use the rest on school improvements, including new hallway lockers and furniture. A date for the concert has not yet been set. Two other area schools will also benefit from the contest… Beckman Catholic High School in Dyersville and Western Dubuque High School in Epworth will each receive $25,000 for placing in the top 50 in the nation.
