The Iowa DNR Forestry Bureau, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, is awarding grants totaling over 207-thousand dollars to eighty-two rural Iowa fire departments, including Delaware, Greeley, Strawberry Point, Garber, Independence, Elkader and West Union. These 50-percent cost-share grants will aid firefighters’ efforts in protecting residents and their property from wildfires. The grants will be used to help purchase wildfire suppression equipment, personal protective equipment and communications equipment.
