The Division 3 fifth-ranked Wartburg football team set the school record in wins with its 12th of the season last Saturday in that 21-10 victory over number 13 St. John’s in Waverly. Former West Delaware Hawk standout, current Junior, Brandon Domeyer surpassed the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the season on his second carry of the game to become the first running back to achieve the accomplishment in Knights Football program history since 2006. Other former area coverage players on the roster and contributing to the squad’s outstanding success include: Junior kicker Michael Bohlke of West Delaware, Junior wide receiver Robbie Anstoetter of Beckman, Freshmen Tony Anstoetter of Beckman, Sophomore Brendan Schott of North Linn, Junior Logan Pitz of Western Dubuque, Sophmore Carter Funke of Maquoketa Valley, Sophomore Mason Simon-Ressler of Western Dubuque, and Freshmen Ben Weber of Cascade. With the win, the Knights advanced to the Elite Eight against No. 1 UW-Whitewater playing at the Warhawks home field in Wisconsin this Saturday with a Noon kick-off time.
