HS Sports: Friday’s Slate

A busy Friday  of high school sports is on the horizon as the first full week of the winter sports season winds down.

Our broadcast coverage game of the night will take place in Vinton.  Featuring the class 4A 14th-ranked 2-0 West Delaware Hawks taking on 0-2 Vinton-Shellsburg. 48th year head coach Harold Shepherd will take on his former school in his current hometown for the 4th time in 5 seasons. Coach Shep helped win 2 state titles while at Vinton in 1984 and 1995.  Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan will take the air around 7:30pm tonight live on KMCH and KMCH.com.

The West Delaware varsity wrestling season starts up tonight in Waverly as the Hawks will take on the Go-Hawks of Waverly-Shell Rock and Clear Lake with JV matches starting at 5:30pm. KMCH Sports’ coverage of Hawk Wrestling gets underway tomorrow morning during the 2nd annual Bob Murphy Invitational at Seedorff Gymnasium starting at 11am. Jamie Vaske and Roger Reed will take the air after the first winter sports season area coaches corner with Sports Director Jon Swisher.

The West Delaware Bowling season continues with road rolling this afternoon. Both the boys’ and girls’ squads are 1-0 and travel to Timber Lanes in Maquoketa facing the Cardinals with a 4pm start time.
