Manchester Police Conducting Tobacco Compliance Checks at Retailers

manch police carManchester Police will be conducting tobacco compliance checks at all of the city’s retailers. The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division will assist police with the checks, in which they’ll send a minor under the age of 18 into a store to purchase tobacco products or nicotine vapor products. Due to a change in Iowa law, alternative nicotine and vapor products are now considered age-restricted products. Any clerk who illegally sells to the minor will be cited on the spot. Criminal penalties for selling tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor products to a minor include a 100-dollar fine for a first offense, a 250-dollar fine for a second offense and 500-dollar fine for a third offense or any offenses thereafter.
