David C. Drinkwater, 88, of Manchester, Iowa, died on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. David was born on May 3, 1926, in Havre, Montana, the son of George and Viola (Gaffney) Drinkwater. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Havre Montana High School with the class of 1944. David then entered the United States Army serving honorably from 1944 until 1947. He attended Northern Montana College at Havre for two years until transferring to the University of Iowa where he received a BSC degree.
David was united in marriage to Mida Foss on July 25, 1950, in Iowa City. Together they raised six children. Over the years they resided in Oto, Hazelton, Central City, and Manchester. David taught for many years. He retired from the West Delaware Community Schools in 1981 after teaching there for twenty-four years
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mida Drinkwater of Manchester; his six children, Vicki Carradus of Davenport, Kathryn Johnson of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Robert Drinkwater of Manchester, Brian Drinkwater of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Tania Drinkwater of Cedar Rapids, and Sean Drinkwater of Kansas City, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, George, Robert, and Paul Drinkwater.
