The Western Dubuque wrestling team moved to 4-0 in dual meet’s on the young season with two wins last night in Maquoketa. In the first dual of the night it was a battle of Highway 20 as the Bobcats took on West Delaware in the Hawks first WaMaC dual of the year. The Hawks started off the dual with a fall from senior Alex Reetz to take an early 6-0 lead but the Bobcats then won the next seven matches with falls of their own to take a 42-6 lead after 113 pounds. West Delaware came back with two major decisions from freshman Cole Engel and senior Logan Reilly but it wasn’t enough as Western Dubuque won 10 out of the 14 matches and defeated the Hawks 57-20.
West Delaware then came back to face Maquoketa in the second dual of the night and got in a early hole as the Cardinals took a 15-9 lead after the heavyweight match, but freshman Ben Litterer got the Hawks back on the winning track has he recorded a 14-1 major decision at 103 and the Hawks won five out of the next eight matches to get their first dual win of the season.
In the final dual of the night Western Dubuque took on Maquoketa and picked up where they left off as they won ten more matches, seven of those were by fall as they defeated the Cardinals 55-18.
