HS Wrestling Saturday 12-13 Results

In Cedar Rapids West Delaware took part in the 23rd annual five seasons duals tournament. The Hawks finished 1-3 as they started the day with a win over the Iowa City West JV team before dropping their next three duals to Linn Mar, Charles City, and Alburnett. Senior Logan Reilly went 3-1 two of those wins coming by way of a fall. Bettendorf claimed their 2nd title in 4 years as they defeated Cedar Rapids Prairie in the championship dual. The Starmont and Ed Co wrestling teams were the Oelwein Invitational on Saturday. Ed Co senior Sawyer Amling picked up his 100th career win on his way to the 152 pound title. Amling pinned his first two opponents of the day in just over one minute before recording a 5-1 decision over Tyler Thomas of Crestwood and led the Vikings to an 8th place finish. Starmont junior Kody Kleve was the top place winner for the Stars as he finished in 3rd place and helped his team to a 9th place finish. For Complete Results Click on Link to Track Wrestling


The Independence Mustangs brought home a team title from the Mount Vernon Invitational with the help of three individual champions. Seniors Mitch Evens and Chase Straw along with junior Matt McMillan brought home titles as the Mustangs held off the field including 3rd ranked in Class 2A Davenport Assumption as they were 24.5 better than the second place Knights. The Monticello Panthers were in Maquoketa for the Zimmerman Invite and finished the day in 6th place. Dalton Husman recorded three pins on the day on his way to the 126 pound title. Trent Aitchison scored 23 team points en route to the title at 145 pounds and heavyweight Zach Timm had two falls and claimed the title for the Panthers.
