Oelwein Firefighters and Deputies Rescue Dog in Well; Looking for Owner

Oelwein firefighters and deputies rescued a dog that had fallen down a well Wednesday. It happened northeast of town at 12628 50th Street. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took the call, and with assistance from the Oelwein Fire Department, they were able to lower a fireman into the well, get the dog in a portable kennel and lift the dog to safety. The owners of the property did not know who the dog belonged to, so it was taken to the Oelwein Veterinarian Clinic to be housed until its owner is found.
