HS Basketball: Results from Tuesday 1-13

In boys basketball:

The Beckman Blazers picked up their 7th road win in Anamosa last night and improved their record to 8-3 with a 73-71 win over the Blue Raiders. After a fast start and an 8-0 early lead, the Blazers had to comeback then hold off Anamosa. Twentieth-year head coach Dan Correy talks about his teams’ effort and the positives he was most proud of:

Junior Colin Squires led the way with 18 points. Junior Colton Willenbring and Senior Josh Gehling added 16 a piece and Senior Billy Huffman chipped in with 8. Anamosa was led by Juniors Kolin Schulte and Tyler Zumbach with 20 and 15 points respectively.

Also in WaMaC East division play last night, West Delaware beat Maquoketa 61-38 at home. Ty Cassutt led the Hawks with 15, Jordan Nolz had 13 and Ryan Trainer added 12. The victory gave head coach Matt Uthoff his 100th career win in his 9th season and 4th school.
