Driver Given Jail Time for Deadly Pedestrian Accident Near Farley

gavelA Dubuque man has been given jail time and probation for a fatal accident involving a pedestrian near Farley last spring. On Wednesday, 25-year old Alex Hannan was sentenced to a year in jail, with all but 120 days suspended. Hannan also received two years of probation. He’d been convicted of driving while intoxicated. Court documents say Hannan was driving on the U.S. Highway 20 on-ramp in Farley around 3 a.m. on April 6 when his vehicle struck Dawson Besler, who was walking on the ramp. Dubuque County Attorney Ralph Potter has said that the evidence didn’t support a charge of vehicular homicide because Besler was walking in the middle of the roadway.
