HS Basketball: Tuesday Night Preview

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The final Tuesday night of the month brings a full slate of high school basketball games tonight. We’ll have an area girl/boy doubleheader from KMCH Sports in Cascade as Monticello travels to face the Cougars with tip times slated for 6:15pm and 8pm. The boys contest features two top ten-ranked teams with the 16-2  5th-rated Panthers and the 2nd-ranked 15-1 Cougars. It also is a match-up of 2 of the best teams in the River Valley Conference with Cascade in 1st place and Monticello in 3rd. The Panthers lost the first meeting against the Cougars this season back on Jan. 6th 53-49 in overtime, since they have only lost once without the services of starting Senior forward Garrett Rieniets who is serving a 7-game suspension. Monticello head coach Tim Lambert says he is proud of how the other players have stepped up and battled through the adversity:

Coach Lambert knows his team will have to be ready for the talented Cougars:

The bigger picture for the Panthers like all teams is how they are playing as the end of the season nears. With their 9-2 record within the seeding process they wrapped up the number one seed in a very tough District # 7:

We’ll have all the coverage, including a full interview with Coach Lambert at halftime of the girls game starting around 6:05pm tonight with Sports Director Jon Swisher, Todd Lambert and Bob Hines.
