Iowans are still digging out from a weekend that brought heavy snow to much of the state. National Weather Service meteorologist Brad Small says virtually all of Iowa got at least some snow and many cities got more than a foot.
Here in Manchester, we received eleven and a half inches of snow Saturday into Sunday. Area schools cancelled classes on Monday, and several cities still have snow emergencies in effect as crews work to remove nearly a foot of snow from city streets. It was the first major snowstorm of this dry and mild winter. Up until this weekend, Manchester had only seen ten inches of snow all winter – and it didn’t even feel like that much because it came in small amounts and melted fairly quickly. National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Lee says this snow will be sticking around for a while.
