U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley visited Edgewood on Wednesday morning, touring Kendrick Forest Products and holding a question-and-answer session with the public. Grassley makes it a point to visit every county in the state on a yearly basis – and it’s something he’s done since he was first elected to the U.S. Senate thirty-four years ago. The 81-year old Senator, who has no plans to retire anytime soon, says he believes face-to-face meetings with his constituents is vital, especially when it comes to businesses.
Senator Grassley answered questions for nearly an hour at Kendrick’s, with just under a hundred people (mostly employees) in attendance. The topics ranged from ISIS and the renewable fuels standard to election reform and free community college. Grassley says there’s several topics he hears about most often as he travels from county to county.
Before speaking to the group, Grassley was given a partial private tour of Kendrick Forest Products… and the Senator was very impressed.
Rhonda Kendrick, who owns the business with her husband Tim, says plans are underway to expand Kendrick Forest Products.
Kendricks have tried to secure a visit with Grassley for the past few years, so Rhonda says it was an honor to finally have him visit.
