HS Baseball/Softball: Hawks Baseball Starts 3-0

The West Delaware Baseball team went 3-0 last week to open up the season. They ended the week Friday night at home with a doubleheader sweep of Independence 11-1 in 6innings and 7-0. Second-year head coach talks about his teams’ effort after two solid outings by senior starting pitchers Seth Wedewer and Ty Cassutt who threw a one-hitter:

The Hawks open up their East division part of the schedule taking on the Cardinals who are 1-2 tonight. All the action from game 1 with updates from game two can be heard this evening at 5pm with Sports Director Jon Swisher live on KMCH and KMCH.com.

The West Delaware Softball team is 2-1 and ranked 13th in the rankings from the Girls Union after week 1. The Hawks will take on Maquoketa who is also 2-1, tonight. We’ll have updates from game 1 which starts at 6pm and Jamie Vaske will have the call from game 2 around 8pm on KMCH and KMCH.com.

North Linn won the Ed-Co tournament by defeating the Vikings 8-1 and Tripoli in the championship game 14-0 behind a no-hitter by senior Jacob Rawson.

Ed-Co took third place by beating Sumner Fredericksburg, 8-2.
