In area baseball coverage that was heard here from KMCH Sports on Friday night, class 2A second-ranked Beckman and Anamosa split a WaMaC East division doubleheader in Anamosa. The Blazers won game one, 7-6 and the Blue Raiders came back in the nightcap, winning in thrilling style 12-11. It was the first win for Anamosa over Beckman since June 22nd, 2009. Fourth-year head coach Nick Norris talks about the significance of the victory for a team trying to bring back winning baseball to Anamosa:

NORRIS1 6-8

The Blue Raiders haven’t had a baseball winning season since 2007. Sophomore Jay McLean hit a three run home run in the bottom of the 7th with two outs, providing the walk-off heroics. Coach Norris has great confidence in McLean:

NORRIS2 6-8

Beckman sits at 5-5 now while Anamosa is 4-6 after a weekend tournament. The Blue Raiders return to East division conference action tonight in Manchester taking on class 3A 13th-rated West Delaware, who is 8-1. We’ll have all the coverage for game one from KMCH Sports starting around 5pm at Exide Field with Sports Director Jon Swisher.
