There are plans for a new veterans’ memorial at Baum Park in Manchester. There are already a couple of veterans’ memorials in Manchester – one at the Delaware County Courthouse and the other at Oakland Cemetary, but Manchester American Legion member Todd Tomlin says this new veterans’ memorial would be different.
The new veterans’ memorial would also be open to ANY veteran – not just Manchester or Delaware County veterans.
Manchester City Parks and Rec Director Doug Foley, who has been part of the planning process along with Tomlin and several others, says they plan to build the new veterans’ memorial on the east side of Baum Park. He says the committee is waiting on preliminary designs before trying to pinpoint the exact location in the park. Tomlin says they’ve been working with various people on design ideas and he hopes to have a final design ready for the public to see at this year’s Delaware County Fair.
The group also hopes to hold a public meeting about the project sometime as well.
