The Ed-Co Viking Baseball team is off to the best start to a season in program history since the 2010 squad started 9-2. This years’ Vikings are 10-2 after the sweep over Maquoketa Valley Wednesday night at home. A special road game and bus trip have been planned this weekend for the team, seventh-year head coach Aaron Hamann explains:
Ed-Co is currently 6-0 and tied for first place in the Upper Iowa Conference with South Winn. Coach Hamann says they will have to be ready next week to compete with two of the toughest teams in the conference:
Tonight, KMCH Sports will have an area and West Delaware baseball doubleheader. Game one from North Linn as the Lynx host class 1A third-ranked Alburnett in a Tri-Rivers Conference doubleheader. It also will be Zach Ericson night at the ballpark as well. Zach, a 2014 graduate of North Linn and senior leader on last years’ team, was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Ericson is currently receiving chemotherapy treatments at the University of Iowa hospitals and clinics. All the proceeds from the night will go to the Ericson family to help with their medical expenses. Game one slated for a 5pm start time, live coverage on KMCH and KMCH.com with Sports Director Jon Swisher then game 2 from Exide Field in Manchester as Bill Logan will have coverage of the Hawks taking on South Tama.
