Class 1A district semifinals took place around the area last night.
Maquoketa Valley scored three runs in the first inning and that proved to be enough over East Buchanan as they added 2 more in the second and 3 in the 6th to win 8-1. Wildcat Sophomore Alec McDowell was impressive in the complete game win picking up his fourth win, striking out four and only allowing 4 hits. MV advances to their District Final Saturday night in Jesup taking on the J-Hawks who beat Wapsie Valley, 5-1.
North Linn claimed a close 4-3 win over Bellevue Marquette to move into a District Final Saturday night taking on Lisbon.
Tonight class 3A and 4A play takes the stage with first round district contests. The class 3A 4th-ranked 30-5 West Delaware welcomes in 12-16 Waukon. The Hawks return to Exide Field where they clinched the overall WaMaC and East division title last Friday night. Second-year head coach Nate Lahr talks about this special group who outlasted a lot of teams the last few weeks:
