HS Baseball: Postseason Continues Tonight

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The final three days of district and sub state play take place to begin this week as teams try to advance on to the 2015 State Tournament in Des Moines that starts with 1A games on Friday night.

In class 3A, district finals will occur tonight. Our feature game will have the fourth-ranked West Delaware Hawks hosting Independence. The Hawks took care of Waukon in first round play Friday night with a 14-0 victory in 5 innings. Senior Seth Wedewer was nearly flawess throwing a no-hitter through 4-innings until head coach Nate Lahr elected to save him for this week after only 54 pitches thrown:

LAHR1 7-20

Coach Lahr is very pleased with the continued consistent effort from the offense and expects it to set the tone early tonight:

LAHR 2 7-20

Independence got past Decorah Friday night with a 8 inning 14-11 win. Second-year Matt Haddy talks about his teams’ comeback effort:

HADDY1 7-20

Coach Haddy is proud of the progress that this group has made reaching the 16-win mark for the first time in at least 8 seasons:

HADDY2 7-20

All the coverage with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan will begin around 6:45pm tonight live on KMCH and KMCH.com

In a 4A district final, Western Dubuque hosts North Scott at 7pm in Farley and we’ll have score updates from that one.
