HS Baseball- WD Hawks Ready to Soar Higher in Substate Final

The class 3A 4th-ranked 32-5 West Delaware Baseball will play in its’ second Substate Final in a row in re-run fashion tonight. Same place, same opponent for the Hawks as they take on second-rated 31-4 Waverly-Shell Rock in Oelwein in a re-match of last years’ Substate 3 championship contest that saw the Go-Hawks edge the Hawks 2-0. WD clinched their 9th district title Monday night with the 2-1 win over Independence and W-SR got past Charles City 4-2 to set up the intriguing match-up between two of the top squads in the state. Hawks head coach Nate Lahr knows his team has been looking forward to this opportunity:

The Hawks won the only meeting this season, 7-2, in the first game on the schedule in Waverly back on Wednesday May 27th. We’ll have all the coverage from KMCH Sports live on KMCH and KMCH.com tonight in Oelwein with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Bill Logan starting with the pregame around 6:45pm.
