HS Baseball: WD Hawks Season Ends In Substate Final

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The class 3A 4th-ranked West Delaware Hawks Baseball team had their season ended for the second straight year at Oelwein in a Substate Final by Waverly-Shell Rock last night by the score of 9-8. The Hawks scored the first two runs of the game in the second but the Go-Hawks answered with 9 runs in their next two times at bat and it proved to be enough for the win. Hawks head coach Nate Lahr talks about how the game could have turned out differently:

LAHR1 7-23

Coach Lahr and his team knew they had a chance even when they were down by 5 midway through the game:

LAHR2 7-23

Coach Lahr gives credit to the 7 seniors who led the way all season long and have been a part of great success at WD the past few seasons:

LAHR3 7-23

Coach Lahr adds that it was a special group aside from their baseball talents and will be greatly missed:

LAHR4 7-23

Coach Lahr knows the lasting impression that the seniors will leave on the juniors will benefit them well:

LAHR5 7-23

The well-spoken and classy young coach Lahr made sure he gave thanks for all the support as his second season is in the books now:

LAHR6 7-23

The Hawks close out the campaign at 32-6 and say goodbye to those 7 seniors.
