Manchester has seen some early success with its whitewater park… it’s been a busy place on warm, sunny days like these… and there’s another area town looking to start one of their own. Waterloo city officials are proposing to build a whitewater park and kayak course along the east bank of the Cedar River downtown. The plans were unveiled this week. The two-point-six million dollar project would be developed along an 80-foot-wide strip on the east side of the river and be accessible to the general public. If the project moves forward, Waterloo would become the fourth city in Iowa to have a whitewater park, joining Manchester, Charles City and Elkader.
