Delaware County has a new pork queen. Alex Bishop of Manchester was crowned the 2016 Delaware County Pork Queen last night at the Pork Producers’ Annual Banquet.
Amanda Fortmann, who was crowned as one of the pork princesses, says she’s looking forward to the next year.
Jamie Glanz will serve as the other new pork princess.
It’s been a busy year for Angie Wilson of Delhi, whose reign as Delaware County Pork Queen came to an end last night. She spent the past year serving with pork princesses Leah Bishop and Bethany Schneiders.
And three Delaware County pork producers were honored with awards last night. The Bellringer Award was given to Alexa Eike of Manchester and the Master Pork Producers Award was presented to Gary and Jean Domeyer of Earlville.
Helmrichs estimates around 350 people turned out for last night’s pork barbeque, which was also the kickoff to the Delaware County Pork Board’s membership drive.
And mark your calendars for November 17th for the Pork Producers’ Annual Meeting, which will once again include their pork recipe contest, “A Taste of Pork”.
