Delaware and Dubuque Counties Discuss Sharing Engineers

Delaware and Dubuque counties are considering sharing engineers for an extended period of time. Delaware County Engineer Anthony Bardgett will leave his position this week to take over as Dubuque County Engineer. And while the two counties have a 28-E Agreement in place for Bardgett to serve as Delaware County’s interim engineer for up to three months, they are looking into something a little more long-term. The supervisors from both counties have discussed sharing the services of Bardgett, as well as Delaware County’s Assistant County Engineer Craig Davis. It’s a concept never tried before by Delaware County, but ten counties in Iowa do have similar sharing agreements currently in place. The two boards are considering a 12-month trial period with quarterly reviews. Nothing is official yet, and the two counties will continue discussions.
