Saturday was all about the bacon and beer in Manchester. The Swing Crew and Blu Simon entertained the crowd at the first-ever Bacon-N-Hops Festival hosted by the Manchester Chamber. Hundreds of people turned out to try around a dozen bacon recipes.
The bacon samples were provided by area businesses and organizations. Castle Theatre manager Lisa Landers was on hand with assistant manager Kristy Davis serving a couple kinds of popcorn.
And for the beer lovers, the Iowa Craft Beer Tent was there selling beer and the Franklin Street Brewery were among those offering beer samples. The Delaware County MADCO Home Brewers were showing people how they brew beer and handing out samples too.
The Bacon-N-Hops Festival also featured mug-holding and bacon-eating competitions. Organizers hope to make the festival an annual event.
