The Manchester Public Library will introduce a new program this Saturday. It’s called “Minutes with Maggie” and it’s a chance for kids to come in and spend ten minutes reading to a dog. Studies show that many kids find it less stressful to read to a dog compared to reading to another person. Volunteer Jo Schreck says Maggie has been specially trained for this kind of service.
Librarian Angie Shere says the “Minutes with Maggie” program will be offered twice a month.
The program is open to kids ages seven through ten. Saturday’s program runs from 10:30 to 11:30 and Wednesday’s program runs from 2 to 3. If you’d like to sign up, call the Manchester Public Library at 927-3719. (Photos courtesy of Manchester Public Library)
