St. Mary’s Students Walk for Colton

St. Mary’s School in Manchester walked in memory of one of their own Friday. Three-year old Colton Meyer would have been in Junior Kindergarten at St. Mary’s this year, but his life was cut short in a fatal farm accident last December. His parents, Tifany and Travis Meyer, recently created the “Rawrrr with Colton” fundraiser, a virtual 5K family fun run that can be completed anytime and anyplace. The funds raised will help defray the cost of a playground set, which will be placed in one of Manchester’s city parks, in Colton’s honor. St. Mary’s teachers and students wanted to show their support, so first grade teacher Dawn Klostermann says they raised money and spent an hour of their day walking around the school’s playground.

Many of the students and teachers were wearing their green “Rawrrr with Colton” t-shirts, as well as bracelets given to them by the Meyer family. At the end of the walk, everyone gathered around the Meyer family to give them a blessing.

The school isn’t alone in participating in the “Rawrrr with Colton” Virtual 5K Family Fun Run… over 450 people signed up, with all of those 5Ks taking place now throughout the end of the month. Registration is closed now, but you can still show your support by making a donation to the playground equipment in Colton Meyer’s name at Citizens State Bank in Manchester.
