Interviews were held last night for the vacant seat on the Jones County Board of Supervisors. Earlier this month, officials chose the option of appointing someone to the District 5 seat rather than holding a special election. The committee – made up of the Jones County Auditor, Recorder and Treasurer – interviewed the candidates at the Anamosa Public Library, with the interview sessions opened to the public. They plan to appoint the new Supervisor Thursday morning, with that person filling the term until November of 2016. The seat was left vacant following the death of Supervisor Keith Dirks in August.
