HS Football: 2nd Round Playoff Preview

By Jon Swisher-Sports Director:

The High School Football Playoffs enter the 2nd round tonight around the state. Nineteen teams remain unbeaten at 10-0, two of those are KMCH area coverage schools in West Delaware and Anamosa.

The class 3A 2nd-ranked West Delaware Hawks host a 6-4 Solon team. This will be the third time in a row that the Hawks and Spartans will meet in the 2nd round. With the Hawks winning last year at home 28-14 and Solon at home in 2013. Head coach Doug Winkowitsch talks about the Spartans and their experienced talented Quarterback Brandon Childs:

WINK1 11-2

Coach Wink talks about the prep his team has done and the mindset they have:

WINK3 11-2

The Hawks look to become the 3rd team in program history to become 11-0 joining the 1995 and 2005 squads. They would be the 5th group to win 11 games in a season along with the teams from 1991, 1993, 1995 and 2005.

The full interview with Coach Wink and Sports Director Jon Swisher can be heard on the Playoff Pregame Show at 6:30pm this evening then Hawks Football live from Brown Field on KMCH and KMCH.com with Jamie, Aaron and Bill.

Our Area Online and Playback Game of the night will come from Anamosa as the 2A 4th-rated Blue Raiders host the 7-3 Williamsburg Raiders. Anamosa is coming off of their first ever playoff victory last Wednesday night as the two teams will meet for the first time since 2000. All the live coverage with Sports Director Jon Swisher and Kevin Barnes on KMCH.com and played back after the WD game.
