Regional Medical Center’s Phase One expansion project is nearly complete, with plans to open the new River Ridge Pavilion in less than two weeks. RMC broke ground on the forty-thousand square foot expansion a year and a half ago, but CEO Lon Butikofer says it actually all started over three years ago when they started planning on how to meet the community’s future needs.
The new River Ridge Pavilion sits on the east side of the hospital campus, overlooking the Maquoketa River in Manchester. Patients and visitors will be able to enjoy the view from the new solarium, outdoor patio and patient rooms. Butikofer says they tried to put in amenities that would make a hospital visit more pleasant for both patients and their families.
And the new large Specialty Clinic means Regional Medical Center will be able to offer an expanded variety of medical services.
The expansion project totaled nineteen million dollars, with over one-point-eight million of donated through RMC’s “Together We Can” fundraising campaign. Butikofer says they couldn’t have done it without the community’s support.
The Manchester Chamber Ambassadors celebrated the new addition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and private tour on Tuesday. Over 1,200 people attended an open house last weekend.
