The West Delaware Hawks girls basketball team earned victory number one of the young season Friday night at home inside Seedorff Gymnasium at West Delaware High School over Vinton-Shellsburg 49-28. The win was also the first for first year head coach Rod Conrad as a WD Hawk in his eleventh season as a varsity head basketball coach. Coach Conrad was relieved to get the first W out of the way and was proud of the effort by his squad after two losses in their first two games of the season:
Coach Conrad now has a career record of 132-74 in his third coaching stop. The 1-2 Hawks return to play with their first WaMaC East Division game tomorrow night in Dyersville taking on 0-3 Beckman.
Tonight KMCH Sports features the first area basketball coverage of the season from North Linn High School as the Lynx welcome in the Vikings of Ed-Co. Starting around 6:15pm with the girls game that matches the 1-1 Vikings against the 4-0 Lynx. On the boys side, the Lynx are a top ten ranked team with a 2-0 mark while Ed-Co is 1-1.
