ELKADER, Iowa (AP) – A man accused of attempting to kill an Elkader woman now faces felony burglary and theft charges in addition to one count of attempted murder.
24-year-old Brandon J. Thoma of Pella is charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree theft. He will be arraigned Dec. 22 in Clayton County District Court.
Police say Thoma broke into Theresa Thoma’s home in Elkader on Nov. 10, pushed her down a flight of stairs and attempted to choke her with a shovel. He was arrested in November on a charge of attempted murder.
Clayton County Attorney Alan Heavens says he could not discuss details of the alleged burglary and theft.
