Delaware County is planning to replace a bridge just northwest of Dyersville next year. The 104-by-22 foot steel I-beam bridge on 182nd Street will be replaced with a 130-by-30-and-a-half foot concrete slab bridge. A letting date is scheduled for March 15th through the Iowa DOT. Eighty-percent of the project will be funded federally, with twenty-percent funded through Farm to Market.
In other Delaware County news, the Board of Supervisors held a public hearing Monday on the first reading of Proposed Ordinance #38 for the Secondary Roads System. The ordinance is required by FEMA, who wants to know that the County is rebuilding storm-damaged infrastructure to some kind of minimum. Delaware County Engineer Anthony Bardgett says the ordinance basically spells out building roads and bridges to minimum standards. Without the ordinance, Delaware County would not get future funding from FEMA.
