The Maquoketa River in Manchester made history this week. The National Weather Service says the river level reached just shy of 13 feet at 3:45 Tuesday morning. According to the National Weather Service’s records, that is the highest the Maquoketa River has ever been in December. It also ranks as the river’s 12th highest crest ever. The river had dropped to ten feet by Tuesday night. The photos below were taken Thursday afternoon, when the river was at about seven feet. The river is expected to return to its normal level of about five feet by the weekend.
