HS Wrestling: Saturday 12-19 Results

Three area wrestling teams competed at this year’s Battle of Waterloo dual tournament as the two day event wrapped up on Saturday. West Delaware went 1-2 in Friday’s session which put them in the 7th place pool on Saturday, but the Hawks went 0-3 on Saturday losing to Cedar Falls, Pleasant Valley, and Clear Lake. Independence also went 1-2 on Friday which got them into the 4th place pool on Saturday. In Saturday’s action the Mustangs went 2-1 with wins over Iowa City West, and Charles City as their only blemish on the day was to top ranked in class 1A Alburnett. The Western Dubuque wrestling team went 2-1 on Friday qualifying them for the 2nd place pool in Saturday’s finale, but the Bobcat’s found the going tough as they went 0-3 losing to Davenport Assumption, Cedar Rapids Prairie, and Clarion-Goldfield.

East Buchanan and Monticello traveled to Arlington Saturday to compete in Starmont’s Doug Guilford Tournament. East Buchanan finished in 5th place as Kyle Decker was the Bucs lone champion at 132 pounds. Starmont finished in 7th place as senior, and returning state qualifier Kody Kleve won the 113 pound title, and Monticello finished in 9th place as Chase Luensman at 106 pounds and Zach Timm at heavyweight won individual titles for the Panthers.

North Linn hosted their home invitational on Saturday which included Beckman and Maquoketa Valley. The host Lynx finished in 5th place and had three champs which were Brady and Brock Henderson at 106 and 113 pounds and Kyler Schott at heavyweight. Beckman finished 4th as Luke Hageman led the Blazers by winning the 152 pound title, and Maquoketa Valley placed 8th as Cole Kruse and Alec McDowell both finished in 3rd place individually for the Wildcats.

Anamosa’s wrestling team wrestled at the Doug Phillipp Duals at Xavier high school where the Blue Raiders went 0-5 losing to Mediapolis, Dubuque Hempstead, West Liberty, Marion, and the host team Xavier.
