The Manchester City Council has officially approved a rezoning request for housing four vacant lots on the southwest side of town. Wes Schulte is planning to construct two buildings on the west side of South 8th Street between West Marion Street and West Jasper Street. Each building would include four two-bedroom units and four one-bedroom units with an office/den. Schulte says this is an opportunity for people to downsize and scale back on their responsibilities and maintenance of home ownership. The four lots will be rezoned to R-5 Multi-Family Residential High-Density, which allows more dwelling units than the current R-4 Multi-Family Residential Medium-Density zoning. The City Council approved the third and final reading of the ordinance Monday night. Construction is expected to begin in the spring.
