U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley was in Manchester on Wednesday morning. It was part of his annual 99 county tour, which just kicked off and gives the longtime Senator the chance to hear firsthand the concerns of Iowa residents. The location for this year’s Delaware County visit was Regional Medical Center, the county’s largest employer with over 400 employees. Grassley says while most of his county meetings are open to the public, he also likes to visit businesses like RMC.
Most of the thirty RMC employees at the meeting were leaders in their respective departments, including physicians, managers and board members. They asked Senator Grassley a number of questions about healthcare, covering topics like Obamacare, Medicaid privatization and mental health initiatives. Grassley says he’ll take those concerns back to Washington.
Grassley, who turned 82 last fall, is entering his 36th year in the U.S. Senate. He says he has several goals for 2016.
Grassley urges Iowa residents to contact him with any questions, ideas or concerns. In addition to Wednesday’s meeting, he also took a quick tour of Regional Medical Center’s new expansion, which was just completed last month.
