HS Wrestling: Independence Wins Clash Of Highway 20

The 56th meeting between the West Delaware and Independence wrestling teams took place last night inside the Independence High School gymnasium. In a series dominated by the Hawks with 37 wins and 18 losses going into last night’s dual, the Mustangs closed the gap as they won 10 matches, eight of those coming by fall on their way to a 54-18 win. West Delaware head coach Jeff Voss says he continues to see improvement with the team every time out:

Several area schools set their sites on conference tournaments this Saturday as West Delaware, Independence, Beckman, Anamosa, and Western Dubuque help make up the 16 teams that will compete in the WaMaC tournament which will be held at Vinton Shellsburg High School and is one of the toughest in the state:

Maquoketa Valley, North Linn, and East Buchanan will be in Delhi for the Tri-Rivers tournament, Starmont and Ed-Co will wrestle in the Upper Iowa conference meet at South Winneshiek, and Monticello and Cascade will be in Durant for the River Valley conference tournament.
