State Wrestling: Independence Takes Aim At State Dual Title

The Independence wrestling team qualified five wrestlers to this year’s state wrestling tournament, but first their sights are set on the team aspect as they grapple today at 9:00 am in the 2016 class 2A state dual tournament at the Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines. The Mustangs are making their third consecutive trip to the state duals and look to improve on their 5th place finish from last season and will do so with one of the strongest line-ups they’ve had all year as they come in as the 5th seed and will face 4th seeded Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. Head coach Michael Doyle says his team is excited to wrestle a traditionally strong program in the first round:
