HS Boys Basketball: West Delaware’s Season Ends

The West Delaware Hawk Boys Basketball team displayed a valiant effort and gave the class 3A second-ranked Golden Eagles of Dubuque Wahlert a scare early on in their district 6 championship in Epworth last night but fell 56-39. Wahlert overcame the slow start and led by 12 at halftime 31-19. The Hawks could never get closer than 10 again as the Golden Eagles built a lead to as much as 22. John Nagel led the way offensively for the Hawks with 15 points, Derek Krogmann had 9, Tyler Kelley 8, 3 for Kyle Wright and 1 for Troy Monaghan. The Hawks close out at 16-7, the first winning record since the 2007-08 team went 18-5. WD says goodbye to 4 seniors, Aaron Demmer, Matt McMahon, Clayton Larsen and Leon Gosa.
