The West Delaware Boys Track squad hosted their scheduled annual Early Bird Track Meet to start the outdoor part of the season last night on a 50 degree and fairly windy night in Manchester. The meet was able to be held for the first time in several years as it usually gets cancelled because of cold and/or snowy conditions. The WD Hawks had an impressive home showing as they posted a 32-point victory with solid individual displays of talent to help secure the team win. Hawks head coach Doug Winkowitsch was very pleased with the effort by his athletes and he believes the accomplishments achieved could help set the table for a fun and successful season:
Goebel’s discus toss puts him second in the state in class 3A currently behind Mount Vernon’s Tristan Wirfs. The West Delaware boys will be off until next week, with a meet slated for Tuesday April, 5th in Anamosa.
