High School Boys Golf: West Delaware Opens Season At Home

By Jamie Vaske-Associate Director of Sports:

The West Delaware boys golf team will open its season at home today as they host Solon at 4:00 pm at Pin Oak in Manchester. Last season the Hawks were 4th best in the state for 9 and 18 hole combined average but failed to advance an individual to the state meet and head coach Tom Fetter says remaining focused will be the key to having individual and team success:

The Hawks return a good group of experienced golfers as seniors Clayton Larsen and Bryce Frick along with junior Trent Shaw were on the 2014 state championship team as Larsen was runner-up as an individual. Fetter says he will look to his veteran guys this season to provide leadership to the rest of the team:

West Delaware has 22 golfers on this years squad and Fetter says having the big numbers has provided a lot of tough competition for the six varsity spots:

Solon comes into the meet with a traditionally good program and although the Hawks will be favored Fetter says his players will have to be ready to go:
