Manchester will be hosting some very special guests next week.
Police K-9 units from across the state of Iowa will be in town for the United States Police Canine Association Region 21 re-certification. Manchester Police K-9 Officer Brad Comer says it’s held every year in a different city and this year he offered Manchester as the host site. The police dogs and their handlers will participate in re-certification activities at the Manchester Fire Station starting on Monday.
There could be up to 60 or 70 police officers and police dogs in Manchester for the event next week, so Comer says don’t be alarmed if you see them driving around town.
Along with the re-certification, the police K-9 units will also be participating in a competition, which Officer Comer and K-9 Tya will be taking part in as well. Unfortunately, the activities are not open to the public, but we’ll let you know how they do.
