The West Delaware boys soccer team had their first home match of the season on Friday night. The Hawks fell to Maquoketa, 8-1, as they opened WaMaC East division play. WD sits at 0-5 now as they enter week 3 of their schedule this evening. First year head coach AJ Engelken did not expect this kind of start but knows the injury adversity is the main reason and the only thing they can do now is continue to work hard and try to overcome it:
The Hawks will be at home again tonight for conference action hosting Anamosa with a 5:15 start time. The WD girls soccer team will also be playing Anamosa, on the road and will begin at 5:30pm.
The West Delaware girls and boys golf teams will be on the course today. The boys will be in Dyersville starting at 11am competing against the host Blazers, Monticello, Maquoketa, Cascade and Bellevue. At 4pm the Hawk girls will welcome in the Blazers to Pin Oak.
Both West Delaware track teams will be traveling to complete a busy first day of the week. The Hawk girls will head to Delhi to take part in the Wildcat Invitational starting with field events at 4:30pm, other teams there are- Decorah, Clayton Ridge, Edgewood-Colesburg, Alburnett, Cascade, Central Elkader, North Linn, Monticello, Western Dubuque, Springville, Central City, Anamosa and Jesup. The WD boys will be at the Oelwein Invite with running to begin at 5pm. The other teams there include, Independence, Starmont, Postville and Sumner-Fredericksburg.
