The man who is running across Iowa to raise money and awareness for leukemia has passed through Delaware County and is continuing on towards the Missouri border.
Ryan Wade of Iowa City started his journey near the Minnesota border Tuesday and he’ll be ending his run in a few days near the Missouri border. He passed through Elkader and Edgewood on Wednesday and Manchester and Ryan on Thursday before driving back to Edgewood Thursday night for a check presentation.
Pennies for Patients and Woodcenter Eagles 4-H Club came together to present Ryan a check for over 45-hundred dollars, which all goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association. The Pennies for Patients campaign, which was started by Emma Kerns at age 15, has raised 20-thousand dollars over the last three years. 10-year old leukemia survivor Jake Schilling helped with the check presentation, and several family members of Payson Kerns, a leukemia and bone marrow transplant survivor, were also there.
If you missed Ryan while he was running through the local area Wednesday and Thursday, you can always make a donation to his cause online through onesteplls.org or his Facebook page. Check out some of the photos of his visit below courtesy of Ryan’s Facebook page!
