Monticello Semi Driver Involved in Fiery Collision

A Monticello semi driver was involved in a collision in Linn County Tuesday afternoon

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says 52-year old Randall Vanamburg of Monticello was driving a semi pulling an empty trailer on Hindman Road in the Marion area shortly after 12 pm. He pulled out in front of a vehicle at the Highway 151 intersection, and the vehicle struck the semi before starting on fire. The fire was quickly put out.

Vanamburg was not hurt in the collision. But the other driver, 22-year old Kourtney Issac of Cedar Rapids, and two small children in her vehicle were transported to a Cedar Rapids hospital for what authorities believed were non-life-threatening injuries.

Vanamburg was cited for failing to yield upon entering a through highway. The accident remains under investigation.
