Day one of the 2016 Drake Relays featured some not so favorable weather conditions. A few area coverage athletes battled through it to compete.
In the Discus-
West Delaware sophomore Harrison Goebel’s best thro was 131-04, good for 22nd out of 24.
In the Shot Put-
Senior Allison Tucker of Western Dubuque earned 19th place with her best throw of 37-02.25.
In the High Jump-
Paige Deppe placed 22nd, not being able to clear the starting height of 5-feet.
The West Delaware boys were rained out in Vinton and the Hawks girls meet was washed out in Marion.
Events slated for today at the Relays for area coverage athletes and teams:
William Blaser of Western Dubuque and Zach Timm of Monticello are in the shot put, starting at 8:30am.
In the high jump at 9:45am, Garrett Rieniets and Noah Steiner of Monticello.
Monticello’s Matt and Derek Manternach are in the 800-meter run at 1:55pm.
In the 4×100 meter relay with prelims at 6pm, Western Dubuque, Beckman and Anamosa.
Western Dubuque is also in the 4×400 at 1:37pm
Monticello is in the Distance Medley at 10:40am.
In the 100-meter hurdles, prelims at 8am, Lisa Tucker of Cascade and Elayna Bahl of Western Dubuque.
In the 4×100 with prelims at 5:10pm, Cascade, North Linn, Monticello, Western Dubuque and Beckman.
Cascade is in the 4×800 meter relay at 1:25pm.
Western Dubuque and Monticello are in the prelims of the distance medley at 8:31am.
The West Delaware Golf teams will host Anamosa at Pin Oak this afternoon starting at 4pm.
The Hawk soccer teams will face Beckman, the boys in Dyersville at 5pm and the girls at home in Manchester at 5:15pm.
