HS Sports: Monday Recap

High School Golf:

The West Delaware girls golf team hosted the WaMaC East invitational Monday night at Pin Oak golf course in Manchester. The host Hawks posted their lowest score of the season as they shot a four player total of 225 which was good for 4th place just 15 shots off of the winning score. West Delaware head coach Brett Mather says he is happy with the way the girls have progressed throughout the season:

Mather comments that as the season winds down he wants the girls to continue working hard and improve their scores every time out:

Western Dubuque was the team champion as they tied with Solon with a four player total of 210, and with the tie it went to the fifth player’s score and for Western Dubuque Kiara Kronlage shot a 65 and Solon’s Julia DeValk shot a 67 giving the Bobcats the tournament win. The medalist for the tournament was Taylor Thede of Maquoketa who shot a 43, Lauren Prier of Western Dubuque was 2nd with a 45, Quinn Herbst from Western Dubuque was 3rd with a 46, Ashley Goebel of West Delaware shot a 46 and finished 4th, and Meredith Martensen of Anamosa also shot a 46 and finished in 5th place.

Clayton Larson Led the West Delaware Boys to the WaMaC East title, as he shot a 2-under 33 for medalist honors at Dyersville Country Club.  Bryce Frick and Gavin Soppe tied for 4th with 37, and were both named to the first team All-Conference.  In Team Scoring, the hawks had a 146; Beckman came in 5th with a 165; Anamosa shot a 170 for 6th.

Boys Golf: Monticello def. Camanche 164-185; Jacob Bergman of Monticello was medalist with a 2-under 34.

High School Soccer:

The West Delaware girls and boys soccer teams both fell against Mount Vernon last night. The girls were in Mount Vernon and lost 5-3, and the boys hosted the Mustangs and were shutout 6-0.
