The West Delaware softball team will look to get back to the state tournament for the first time since 2014 tonight as they host Charles City in a class 4A region 3 final at Sill Field in Manchester. The Hawks who enter tonight’s contest ranked fifth in class 4A with a 31-10 record after a thrilling 1-0 win over Western Dubuque in Saturday night’s semifinal round game will welcome in the Comets who come in with a 23-10 season record after they knocked off Mason City 11-0 in their semifinal. West Delaware will be playing in their seventh regional final and look to make it to the state tournament for 15th time in school history, while Charles City will be looking for their 25th trip all time and first since 2009. The two programs met in a regional final in Waverly back in 2012, a matchup in which the Hawks won 12-0 on their way to seventh place finish at state. West Delaware second year head coach Tiffany Rave says Charles City is a great team and her girls will need to be ready for a tough game:
Coverage of the game will begin around 7:00 pm with Bill Logan and Jamie Vaske and can be heard on 94.7 and on KMCH.com.
